There isn’t any human being in this world without accomplishments. On the same note, there isn’t any human being who doesn’t have insecurities (of course some of us are better at dealing with them).

Insecurities start creeping into our lives when we start worrying about what other people think about us. Instead of being proud of our accomplishments, which as I mentioned above we all have, we are worried that what we have done/achieved is not good enough for people around us. We worry that people around us will think that we are not good enough. And in today’s digital world, where ‘you are only as good as the likes received on your latest post’ the toil is on to outperform your previous post’s likes and retweets.

Our generation is known as a narcissistic one, where technology has provided us with a digital platform to give us an inflated sense of self. We start comparing ourselves to the ‘perfect’ people we see on Instagram or other social media. We compare ourselves with the ‘perfect’ people in movies, TV and magazines. What we don’t realize is that these images/videos are meant to sell to us, and the way they sell us is by making us feel insecure about ourselves, and then needing whatever it is that the celebrities are selling us in…
